Emmy.
When I was a little girl, I wasn’t the fondest of cats because I thought they were evil. I was for sure more of a dog person, but I believe over time, that has changed. I had never even thought about getting a cat, but I started seeing them everywhere I looked. I would see cats on Facebook, in advertisements, and even TikToks about cats.
Sophomore year I became severely depressed and I stuck it out a few years, but since COVID started and my best friend moved away I’ve felt lonelier than ever. So, seeing the cats everywhere gave me the idea to get one for emotional support.
Luckily, within about a week, a girl posted on Facebook that she was giving away a free kitten. Once I met the kitten, I instantly knew that she was meant to be mine. She’s the prettiest and most cuddly and I am obsessed with her. It took me a while to figure out a name that best matched her personality. Ultimately, I went with Emmy, short for Emerald (my birthstone).
I never thought I would be a cat mom, but it is honestly the best thing in the world for me. I would have to say Emmy is the best thing to happen to me in a long time. I am never alone physically or even mentally anymore. If I ever am sad, she knows and comes to cuddle with me. She doesn’t know it, but I totally need her more than she needs me. She gives me the motivation to do what I need to do every day. I don’t know where I would be without her.
